COHV HIGHLIGHTS
COHV's New Home!
April 2025
On April 19th, Children of Homicide Victims celebrated a powerful milestone—the grand reveal of our new home inside. Surrounded by love, support, and excitement, our COHV kids led the way by cutting the ribbon, officially opening a space built just for them.
We called it Unboxing Hope—a celebration filled with joy, healing, and purpose. Guests toured our new therapy room, activity spaces, and resource areas while learning more about the impact of our work. This space is more than an office—it’s a sanctuary of love, hope, and community for children and families navigating grief.
Together, we are creating a place where hearts heal, dreams are nurtured, and young voices rise.
March Madness
March 2025
March was truly *mad* in the best way possible at Children of Homicide Victims’ monthly E.P.I.C. Healing session! With the theme of “March Madness,” youth came together for a high-energy day full of empowerment, play, and purpose. From basketball-inspired team challenges to emotional regulation drills, this session wasn’t just about fun—it was about building resilience, learning how to cope through grief, and strengthening the power of community. Advocates and mentors helped guide youth through interactive activities that promoted physical movement, mental wellness, and character development. The gym was filled with laughter, teamwork, and even a few slam dunks—both on the court and in the hearts of the children. As always, E.P.I.C. (Emotional, Physical, Intellectual, and Character) healing took center court, reminding every child that they are not alone, they are seen, and they are champions in the making.

Gifts to Heal
December 2024
This past December, Children of Homicide Victims wrapped the year in warmth, joy, and healing with our highly anticipated Gifts to Heal holiday event. Held on December 21st, the celebration brought together grieving children and their families for a magical evening filled with love and community. With twinkling lights, festive décor, and the spirit of giving in full force, each child received hand-selected gifts, essentials, and wish-list surprises—all made possible by generous donors and volunteers. The event featured a holiday meal, photo booth fun, certificates of love, and appearances from Santa Claus and Reggie Ray the Magic Man, who brought smiles and laughter to everyone in the room. More than just a holiday party, Gifts to Heal reminded our families that even in the midst of loss, there is still joy, there is still love, and there is a village that cares. Together, we turned heartbreak into hope, making the season brighter for every child we serve.

“I am so blessed my kids are apart of this organization. They have done so much for them in such a little time. And they have so much to offer. On top of the wonderful volunteers they have a founder who is awesome. Anytime I have needed assistance I always receive a call back from her directly."
Diamond, Lee Summit
"They definitely show up and out for COHV kids. Thank you for everything you all have done for my daughter, she loves y'all and I'm glad she has good people in her corner to understand her pain."
COHV Kid, Kansas City
“I get to express myself with people who understand and do things I have never done before like fishing, archery, and tending to a farm”
